Overview
The mainstream methods for titanium alloy atomization powder production include EIGA crucible free melting atomization powder production, PA plasma wire feeding atomization powder production, and ERRP plasma rotating electrode powder production. These technologies cannot achieve continuous production, while PA achieves semi-continuous production. However, the cost of rolling titanium alloy wire in the early stage is relatively high, and the market price of wire material is twice that of bar material (taking TC4 as an example, 3.2mm wire material costs 240 yuan/KG, while the diameter of 70×1000mm bar material costs only 120 yuan/KG), so it has not been widely promoted and used in the market.
EIGA uses titanium alloy rods, which require melting one rod and stopping the replacement of the other rod. The production efficiency is extremely low, and each rod has a small tail material. Affects the yield of finished powder products. Moreover, an expensive argon gas recovery system is required for gas consumption of 25NM3/H.
ERRP plasma rotating electrode atomization has a powder yield of less than 15% due to centrifugal force, making it difficult to manufacture at low cost.
